Her Big Day (HBD): Tell us about your business! What do you specialize in and what makes you unique?
Kiara: Hello, I'm Kiara, Owner and Lead Planner at Bright & Co. Events, one of the new kids on the block in the event planning business. While my business may be new, I have years of experience in planning events of all sizes. My 10+ years as an administrative professional for some of the Northwest's top companies has afforded me the opportunity to use my organizational skills, planning ability, and creativeness to plan multiple corporate parties and events. When I got engaged and planned my own wedding in 2014, I was able to combine my love of celebrations with my knack for organizing and Bright & Co. Events began to take shape.

Her Big Day (HBD): What can brides (and grooms) expect when working with you?
Kiara: When you work with Bright & Co. Events we become a resource to help you bring your vision to life. Your celebration should be authentic to who you are as a person, couple, or company. I always encourage clients to be true to who they are; fight for the things they want on their special day; dream big; be courageous and to trust their gut and I am here to support you. As your planner, I pride myself on delivering ideas and designs that are tailored to your vision.

HBD: Your long tenure in the event planning world is commendable--we understand your love for party planning as we love that too! Why are you participating in Her Big Day: A Cultural Wedding Affair?
Kiara: This is my first year participating in Her Big Day and I couldn't be more excited. Her Big Day is going to be an exciting event that brings together people of different cultural backgrounds. The wedding industry is a diverse business and to be part of a show that celebrates that diversity is exciting! I look forward to meeting a variety of clients and other vendors that I may not have met otherwise and expanding my own business into new and exciting areas.

HBD: What do you find clients always say they love about working with you?
Kiara: I love and work for my clients like they are family and I think that comes through in my work. I find that clients often are complimentary of my organization and the variety of creative ideas I bring to the table. I am a great listener and my clients always tell me that I absorb their vision and take their events to levels that they did not even expect.

HBD: We love how passionate you are about your work! That passion definitely makes a difference. Have you won any awards or have been recognized for your work?
Kiara: Bright & Co. Events was recently featured on the the NW Wedding Magazine blog "Northwed". I was also recently awarded a scholarship to Sinclair & Moore's upcoming workshop, "The Elements of Event Design". I am looking forward to learning from some of the best and collaborating with other event vendors.

HBD: Is there anything else brides (and grooms) should know about your business?
Kiara: Whenever I look at my own wedding photos I feel such tremendous joy. My wedding day was unimaginably perfect and full of complete elation and my business is meant to capture that same spirit. It inspires me to create a day and environment for my own clients that give them the same opportunity to hand things over to me and live in the moment of their special day. Simply put, I aspire to be there for you so you can enjoy the celebration and put away your worry. Days like these truly do fly by.

I look forward to working with you on a bold, confident, and vibrant design for your event and I am excited to embark on this new venture and hope you will join us!

Her Big Day (HBD): Tell us about your business! What do you specialize in and what makes you unique?
Nadine: NADIA S EVENING is an independent, woman-owned dress shop in downtown Edmonds, and on the world wide web. Red-carpet glamour, enticing trends, and model off-duty chic are just a few of the things we're good at. Our collection consists of cocktail, black tie, and formal attire for the entire wedding entourage. A curated evening gown selection fit for the social connoisseur with distinct style - effortless, unique, and never before seen. Cocktail ready fits for the boss lady who dresses to impress. And a casual selection of dresses fit for our weekend cool fashionista's who know a thing or two about looking effortlessly stylish - In the office, and out on the town. NADIA S EVENING is also a full bridal salon with a full selection of bridesmaid and mother of the bride/groom dresses. Our clients can't get over our Turkish label dresses, but we just can't get over our selection of exclusive labels that are only carried in our boutique in Seattle. We don't work like most boutique's. Our selection is based on the styles our clients love - think of us like your personal stylist, and our boutique as your closet. After making one purchase with us, you're guaranteed a selection of dresses fit for your style, the next time you're in. An exclusive collection with luxurious service fit for a queen!

HBD: We love how you carry unique, exclusive labeled dresses! What else stands out about your business?
Nadine: NADIA S EVENING is a brand new business! (opened July 15, 2015). The business originally started in North Africa, with a location in our hometown that my mother started in order to bring American designed labels that woman in the middle east sought (10 years ago). My mother then expanded by selling her curated collection to retailers in Dubai - quickly becoming a leading buyer of American evening wear apparel in Dubai. Frustrated by the slim pickings of evening gowns in Seattle that didn't offer selection, uniqueness, and glamour - I decided to follow my mother's footsteps and offer a unique selection of formal gowns fit for the cultural woman who's culture demands a formal attire that is nothing shy of dramatic.

HBD: Such an awesome back story to the reason behind your business! We look forward to having you at the show.

Exclusive Look at Mana Design from Fashion Week Columbus 2015

We are so excited to share this exclusive look at Nuha Gebremedhin's new collection from her line: Mana Design. She recently showcased her stunning work at Fashion Week Columbus 2015 and it was Fabulous!

Designer Nuha Gebremedhin describes her collection as 'timeless, elegant and ethnically inspired' and we couldn't agree more! We love her ability to create a western style wedding gown using traditional, hand woven fabrics from Ethiopia. These gowns can be worn on the wedding day during the ceremony or reception, and are sure to leave an impression on your guests.

We think this line would be perfect for the modern bride who isn't afraid to step out of the box by blending the western wedding dress with cultural elements. It's perfect for a one day, culturally infused wedding as well!

Enjoy and tell us which dresses speak to you the most!

xx.

Engagement Feature: Meron + Mike

Bride-to-be: Meron
Groom-to-be: Mike
Location: Seattle, WA.

We are SO excited to finally get our hands on this stunning couple's engagement shoot! We knew it would be inspiring, but they just blew us away with these breathtaking photos! We love the three different sessions with different locations, looks and styles! The bride to be said each session was a representation of who they are.
Session one: Young, urban and Hip- this look took place at the iconic gum wall in Pike Place Market where they've spent much time together (and initially met not too far from their as well). They wanted to include a fun shoot to show that they were still young, fresh and fun!
Session two: VOGUE- this look took place on the road to Washington State University where they both attended college together. (How stunning is her green dress, by the way!?)
Session three: ELEGANT and Classy- this shoot, taken with the Seattle Space Needle in the background truly shows the elegance and timelessness of these two lovebirds! They truly nailed each of these looks! We are so excited for them to tie the knot.

Tell us how you met one another: We are high school sweethearts and first met at a Folklife festival at the Seattle Center!

How did he pop the question: On our 10 year dating anniversary, Mike planned an extravagant, multi-city getaway trip that started in Miami and ended in Jamaica! Throughout the entire trip, I kept thinking he was going to propose, but he never did and I just couldn't wrap my mind around what he was planning. He finally caught me off guard one night in Jamaica and proposed in the most beautiful way on the beach, in a private dinner set up with candles a personal waitress and musician. I would need an entire day to tell my proposal story in detail, but let's just say it was something you would see on TV...it was breathtaking! It was a fairytale that was my reality playing out right in front of my eyes.

When's the big day: Summer of 2016, date is TBD

What are you looking forward to most about your wedding: I'm looking forward to our two big families coming together and celebrating our love! Also, having the opportunity to showcase our pure and beautiful culture.

Engagement photoshoot by: Ron Espina Photography

Thank you for sharing your story with us, Meron + Mike! Many blessings to you both in your new union, xx.
